The Imitation Game

Paul Granjon is currently exhibiting work in Manchester Art Gallery. Inspired by the work of Alun Turing, The Imitation Game is an exhibition of eight international artists whose work explores the theme of machines and the imitation of life.  Paul’s new work, ‘Am I Robot’, features a robotic presence which roams the gallery, interacting with visitors in some surprising and intriguing ways. Paul will also present a live performance during the exhibition. The exhibition runs until 5 June.

Am I Robot” (pictured) is based on a mobile robot called Combover Jo, that roams a large room on the first floor of the gallery, mingling with the public. It talks in a machinic voice, sometimes to itself, sometimes engaging with visitors. On the second floor the visitors can enter a small room that complements the robot…
