Invisible College

Invisible College was founded in 2004 as a forum for research in visual art and art theory. It has successfully created a focus for research active staff and emerging researchers and is now moving into a new phase of development. In collaboration with the Institute for Cultural Research (Lancaster University) and other national and international partners, Invisible College is launching a major research project, The Dialogical Imagination: Art After the Beholder's Share. This project will bring together practitioners and theorists of visual art, philosophy, theology and politics to reflect on those artistic practices of the 1960s onwards that make exceptional demands - perceptual, physical, spiritual or social - upon the spectator. Outcomes will include publications, a series of conferences and a website of work in progress.
