Wellcome Award for Fovography

Wellcome Award for Fovography

Prof Robert Pepperell has been awarded Seed Funding by the Wellcome Trust for a new project in collaboration with Tony Langford, Director of Kinetica Museum. The award, totalling just under £40K, will allow the team to work with experts in science, art, the humanities and medicine to evaluate and determine whether Fovography can improve technologies used for mindfulness training by broadening the focus of attention to the whole visual field.

The interdisciplinary nature of Prof Robert Pepperell continues to be recognised by the scientific community. Robert presented “Using Art to Map Visual Space” to 50+ students and staff members at UCL’s Neurosciences Society in March and has been invited to address an international symposium on Art and Perception hosted by the University of Liverpool’s Psychology department. The Fovography team has also continued to explore a number of potential collaborations with academic and industry partners to investigate further possible applications of the technology, including a collaboration with Cardiff Met’s own Psychology Department investigating if Fovography has an effect on brainwaves.
